GHHA Community Medical Health Library

700 E. Broad Street, Hazleton, PA 18201
(located on the third floor of the Human Resources Building, on the campus of the Hazleton General Hospital).

The GHHA Community Health Library is a comprehensive health information center for all members of the community. The library houses more than 500 consumer health books, as well as a large multi-media collection. Many materials are available in both English and Spanish.

A special children’s collection as well as a young adults collection is available at the Community Health Library. The collection will answer questions about common medical procedures, diseases, and medical conditions, and teach good health habits.

The Community Health Library provides information on a variety of health care topics in many formats, including:

• Pamphlets
• Magazines
• Newsletters
• Audio cassettes
• Video tapes
• CD-ROM software and DVD software
• Internet access

Policies
All patrons must register to receive a borrower’s card prior to checking out any materials. Any one over the age of 16 may register. Anyone under the age of 16 must have an adult register for them.

• Books may be borrowed for two weeks.
• Videos, audio cassettes, and CD ROM and DVDs may be borrowed for one week.
• Reference materials do not circulate but can be used at the library
• Magazines do not circulate, but can be used at the library.
• Pamphlets and handouts may be taken unless designated as REFERENCE ONLY.

• HEALTH INFORMATICS: All members are given a password to access, a patient education website divided into nine health modules available in English and Spanish. Each category contains hundreds of articles written to help members better understand their own health care and to communicate better with health care professionals. With a password, this program can be accessed from any computer with Internet access.
